Summary This position is responsible for providing instruction to Police Department members in general subject areas and high liability subject areas in accordance with all legal, accreditation, internal and other mandates and standards; maintaining appropriate records and files relating to that training; and performing other duties related to the training function of the Police Department. Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities Develop and provide appropriate training to meet or exceed all required standards in high liability subject areas Develop and provide appropriate training to meet or exceed all required standards in general subject areas Prepare documentation, e.g., lesson plans and support material for all training provided Properly document and record course attendance for all training Maintain training files as needed, to include course files and individual training files Assist with scheduling training as well as coordinating outside instructors when needed Assist with scheduling and coordinating “hosted” training courses provided by outside vendors Assist with processing requests from Department staff for outside training, to include registrations and travel arrangements Assist with updates and date entry to

regarding training activity Identify training deficiencies and make recommendations for improvement Research and develop new topics for training Practice appropriate risk management to ensure safety in all training activities Keep own instructor certifications current as required by FDLE Assist with the orientation process for new Department hires Performs any other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required, and College degree desired, and Current FDLE certification as a general topics instructor required, and Current FDLE certification as a high liability instructor in firearms and at least one other high liability area required, and Minimum of five years of police training experience required, and Experience as an instructor at a police academy or teaching advanced police training courses desired, or Any related combination of training, education and experience Special Qualifications/Preferences Must possess a valid State of Florida driver’s license with clean driving record

Pension Plan :
