In the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU), you will work withpatients with Cardiac and Vascular disease, some requiring anintermediate level of care. We care for patients with congestiveheart failure, acute myocardial infarcts (STEMI, NSTEMI), cardiacdysrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary edema, amputations, etc.
Patients require many interventions on this unit including,echocardiogram, nuclear studies, pacemakers, percutaneous coronaryintervention, vascular surgery, cardioversion and cath labprocedures. On this unit, you will become an expert at interpretingcardiac rhythms and skilled in drip titration, and post cathinterventions such as TR Bands and Femoral Sheath pulls. Our nursesare trained in ACLS, NIHSS and responds to code blue eventsthroughout the hospital. Coordinates the development and implementation of education andtraining programs to enhance, promote, and maintain high standardsof staff professional growth in providing quality patient care.
Serves as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge andclinical practice. Administers staff development programs throughneeds assessment and implements education and training programs forclinical staff. Functions in a leadership role as a clinicalexpert. Develops and implements training and maintains establishedstandards of care through quality improvement activities. Maintainsunit-specific quality, accreditation, and clinical competencyprograms. Responsibilities involve providing staff instruction onthe collection of data, assisting with the development andimplementation of clinical guidelines, and serving as a resource todepartmental and other hospital staff.
REQUIRED
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Associates Degree (AD) with three (3) years’ clinical experienceOR Bachelor’s in Nursing (BSN) with two (2) years’ clinicalexperience.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Two (2) years supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and experience in the use and application of computerprograms for education and training.
- National certification in specialty area.
- Experience with quality management and/or coding systems.
