DEFINITION
Coordinate programs, services and activities of the City’s training needs; perform a variety of professional, technical, and analytical work involved in the administration of the city’s training program including coordinate training activities with other city departments and outside agencies; and provide responsible and complex administrative support to the Department Director.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
– Essential responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Coordinate the administration of a variety of training activities including facilitation, development, evaluation of training material and courses. Coordinate the City’s comprehensive city-wide training program. Identify qualified instructors and training programs. Determine the training needs of the employees of the City of Jackson. Responsible for arranging and conducting basic, advanced and in-service training. Coordinate training activities with federal, state and local agencies to maximize resources. Coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies. Recommend needed regulations, policies and procedures for proper administration of programs.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, direct and coordinate a variety of training activities and programs. Design and implement specific training sessions. Design and implement instruments to evaluate the quality of services and training sessions. Communicate clearly and concisely. Establish and maintain effecting working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Experience and Training Guidelines Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience relative to employee development and training.
Training:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration/ Management, Human Resource Management, Public Administration or a related field.
