The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi’s at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance. Systematically records all transactions and ensures that all financial transactions recorded are reflected in the agency books of accounts.

  • Facilitate pre-service and Clinical Supervisory Training
  • Train personnel associated with time keeping systems, general bookkeeping and provides instructions on the location and provide clarity of agency policy defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Train personnel how to maintain receivable and payable documentation electronically and manually
  • Train clerical staff how to work directly with auditors to complete audits, gather banking information, and report/resolve discrepancies
  • Train clerical staff on how to reconcile accounting reports, purchasing process, cash and accrual accounting, auditing, and fraud prevention.
  • Train personnel responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of financial reports, county files, and other bookkeeping documents.
  • Train personnel how to record daily financial transactions and maintains accurate ledgers
  • Train personnel how to verify receipts, following policy guidelines
  • Train personnel how to develop daily and monthly financial and statistical reports for management (cash receipt logs)
  • Train personnel how to monitor fund balances and produce financial reports to assist Supervisors in taking strategic decisions.
  • Provides bookkeeping management staff with advice on compliance needs What you’ll need to be Successful Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software, demonstrate integrity, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to adapt quickly, courteous, ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 1 year of relevant work experience.
