Description of Work
Do you want to be a part of a team that has a direct impact on the lives of over 270 individuals? Come be a part of the Murdoch Developmental Center Staff Development Department, consisting of 10 full-time staff who coordinate and/or carry out the training for the 1200+ staff who work at Murdoch Developmental Center. Staff Development provides a comprehensive staff training and education program which includes orientation, in-service education, including on-the-job training, supervision and management training and continuing education activities. Orientation, on-the-job training and continuing education programs are required for many professional disciplines. In addition, some training is required by DHHS such as supervisory training and various mandated courses taught through Murdoch Orientation and Basic Training Series. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary trainer for the Epic eMerge EHR project implementation trainer. This position will be responsible for taking the lead in training all direct care staff and some professional/clinical staff in the use of Epic. This position will continue to provide ongoing training to onboarding employees as well as annual training and updates training related to EHR use. Training formats are provided by Epic specific to job roles. This position will be responsible for assisting staff to complete their Epic assigned training as well as developing the needed curriculum to supplement Epic training if necessary. This position will facilitate the in-classroom portion of all Epic training and may assist a clinical trainer for additional professional and clinical roles within the facility. The Staff Development Specialist II will provide consultation as needed within the facility related to Epic duties. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing consultative serves and new employee training as directed by the Director of Development. This position functions under the supervision of the Staff Development Director in the Staff Development Department.
Scheduled working hours are: Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with flexibility to work third shift as needed to meet training needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. Experience in computer principles and their application to an electronic health record.
Ability to interpret regulations, software, applications, and operate hardware for the Center’s Epic use.
Experience in delivering training programs for adult learners
Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience in use of audiovisual aids and other training tools and resources (laptop, projector)
Experience in interpreting, applying, and communicating a variety of policies, procedures, and regulations to a wide range of audiences and situations
Management Preferences:
Experience with EPIC
Knowledge of NC Personnel policies and procedures
Physical Requirements:
Need to be able to lift training materials such as tables and chairs to set up classroom for training, AV bag with computer and projector, portable screen, reams of paper, etc.)
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of training development experience in a progressive training or teaching role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
