Technical Trainer Grade 12 JOB SUMMARY Technical Trainers support the Precision Measurement Group (PMG) Service Team by training, qualifying, and evaluating the competency of technicians in all areas of calibration, repair, inspection and testing, including the necessary software. They will conduct training across all branches and embedded locations, both in the labs and in the field. Training activities will be conducted and documented in accordance with the One Quality System. Technical Trainers will be relied on as a continued resource for technical support. Technical Trainers may be called on to perform additional duties as requested by management. Regular travel and work outside of normal business hours are requirements of this position. Technical Trainers reports directly to the Senior Technical Quality Manager and works closely with the Service/Site Managers, Technicians, and the Quality and Training Team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Work with Service/Site Managers and the Quality and Training Team to provide on location training and to qualify technicians on procedures and processes using the Job Observation process. Provide honest feedback to trainees and managers verbally and in writing. Work with the Quality and Training Team and Service/Site Managers to identify and address opportunities to improve the competency of technicians such as identifying training gaps, evaluating the technical staff matrix, ensuring discipline coverage, etc. Provide associates with technical support on the execution and submission of proficiency tests (PTs). Work with the Quality and Training Team to develop and implement internal PTs. Provide Service/Site Managers with technical support in improving PT scores. Provide associates with technical support on the use of gage management and calibration software such as but not limited to GageSuite, CrossCal, Fluke Met/Team, and Met/Cal. Support the Quality and Training Team in the development and maintenance of the One Quality System. Review, comment on, and revise ICPs; utilize training experience to clarify ICPs in order to improve understanding and consistency among technicians. Monitor the progress of assigned CARs through to closure. Proactively communicating with Service/Site Managers to ensure progress. Work with Service/Site Managers to assist in determining root cause. Evaluate the assigned CARs for adequacy, providing Managers with feedback or closing the CARs. Support audit activities by serving on internal audit teams, representing the company during customer audits, preparing local teams for external audits, and attending renewal audits.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and document process improvements, best practices, and risk. Review calibration certificates for accuracy in conjunction with the Cert Review process. Conduct and document safety inspections during site visits. Conduct customer training and/or seminars. Assist in the development and maintenance of Uncertainty Budgets. Support and carry out initiatives of the Quality Team. Attend and participate in industry meetings and training. Other duties as assigned by management. Involvement in these activities will be based on both the strengths of the incumbent and the needs of the company.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent with 10 years related experience. Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a multitude of calibration, repair and testing disciplines to include, but not limited to, Acoustics, Chemical, Dimensional, Dimensional Testing, Electrical – Electronics, Frequency, RF Microwave, Environmental Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Force, Mass, Mechanical, Optical Quantities, and Vibration. Experience training and/or teaching with a proven ability to qualify others. Effective and professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient using GageSuite, CrossCal, Fluke Met/Team, Met/Cal and similar calibration software. Excellent PC skill level including working knowledge of Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides and Microsoft Excel. Able to successfully complete training on calculating uncertainty budgets.
