SCOPE OF WORK

The coordinator is responsible for the development, delivery, and evaluation of continuing education programs for dental professionals with responsibilities for instructional quality oversight, professional development planning, and working closely with the Workforce Development (WE) staff to ensure customer satisfaction, logistics, and financial performance. This position shall report to the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at NHTI, Concord’s Community College.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Develops a continuing education program with course offerings that reflect industry standards as defined by the NH Dental Practice Act and meet the needs of the dental community.
  • Oversees course prerequisites to ensure alignment with the NH Dental Practice Act.
  • Works with professional dental organizations and boards to identify professional development needs within the dental community.
  • Assists with the recruitment of qualified instructors and coordinates the onboarding process.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the dental continuing education program including responding to customer inquiries, procuring instructional materials, arranging course logistics, and assisting students and instructors, as needed.
  • Reviews and assesses instructional materials and oversees the course evaluation process.
  • Collaborates with the WE Director for long-term planning and ongoing needs assessment to ensure the sustainability and growth of the program.
  • Complies with all college, system, state, and federal rules and regulations.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in dental technology, dentistry, dental hygiene, dental education, health sciences, education, or related field. Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in education or health sciences requires an Associate’s degree in dental technology, dental hygiene, dental assisting or dental education.

Experience:

Two years’ experience as a dental hygienist, dental assistant, or as an instructor within the discipline of dental technology, dental hygiene, or dental assisting.
Or

Education:

Associate’s degree from a recognized college or university in dental technology, dental hygiene, dental assisting, or related discipline.

Experience:

Four years’ experience as a dental hygienist, dental assistant, or as an instructor within the discipline of dental technology, dental hygiene, or dental assisting.

License/Certification:

Current dental hygienist license is required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Understanding of the educational process. Knowledge of clinical protocols and requirements for dental assisting and dental hygiene, including public and private health needs, and familiarity with the NH Board of Dental Examiners’ requirements. Experience with learning management systems (e.g.

CANVAS).

RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS

Experience with curriculum development, program management, and continuous improvement. Experience with community outreach to professional organizations and knowledge of marketing strategies for program growth. Current knowledge of the dental practices, procedures and state regulations. Ability to define and assess problem areas and to c develop effective solutions. Ability to exercise sound judgment in the performance of job duties. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to perform duties in keeping with professional standards and established deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by college management.
