The General Council on Finance and Administration announces a search for a Learning and Development Instructor. The Learning and Development Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging and effective training sessions to GCFA and UMC constituents across a variety of topics related to the work of GCFA and soft skills. This role requires a dynamic facilitator who can quickly learn and present new content with confidence. The Training Instructor will spend their time developing and leading classroom-based and web-based training, ensuring individuals receive high-quality instruction that enhances their knowledge, skills, and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate instructor-led training sessions for GCFA and UMC constituents on a range of topics, including but not limited to soft skills, GCFA-related policies and processes, and other GCFA-related subjects. Maintain a strong classroom and web-based presence, fostering an inclusive and interactive learning environment. Adapt training delivery methods to accommodate different learning styles and engagement levels. Develop and update training materials, presentations, and learning resources as needed. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), GCFA Executive Team, and UMC constituents to refine and improve training content. Quickly familiarize themselves with new content areas and confidently present material, even on unfamiliar topics. Record training videos and expect to be on camera for web-based presentations. Track training attendance and document participation records to ensure compliance with company training requirements, as needed. Evaluate and assess participant understanding through discussions, exercises, and knowledge checks. Stay current with best practices in adult learning and corporate training methodologies. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree is required. 2-4 years of experience in training, facilitation, or corporate learning and development. Experience presenting to diverse employee groups. Experience developing on-line training programs and facilitating them in an on-line environment. Ability to facilitate both in-person and virtual training sessions. Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to engage and connect with an audience. Strong adaptability to quickly learn and deliver new topics with confidence. Ability to simplify complex information and communicate it effectively. Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment. Proficiency in using presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides) and virtual training platforms (Articulate, Camtasia). Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple training sessions. Ability to assess learner needs and adjust training approaches accordingly. Exceptional English skills, both written and spoken. Fluency in other languages a plus. Knowledge or willingness to learn United Methodist denominational polity and organizational structure essential.
