Hamburg, AR Job Title:

School Counselor The School Counselor at Hamburg School District is responsible for implementing a comprehensive counseling program that meets the academic, career, social, and emotional needs of all students. The counselor will adhere to Arkansas state regulations, dedicating the majority of their time to direct and indirect services for students while limiting administrative duties to ensure a student-centered focus.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field. Current Arkansas certification/licensure as a School Counselor. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required

Building Principal Superintendent

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.

Student Support Services:

Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, career, social, and emotional needs. Conduct classroom guidance lessons on topics such as study skills, career planning, and social-emotional development. Intervene in situations that present barriers to student success, such as behavioral concerns, mental health challenges, and crisis situations. 2.

Academic and Career Planning:

Assist students in developing academic plans that align with their strengths and goals. Guide students in exploring and preparing for post-secondary education and career opportunities. Administer and interpret assessments related to academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional growth. 3.

Program Development and Implementation:

Design and implement a comprehensive counseling program in alignment with the Arkansas Comprehensive School Counseling Program Guide . Develop and deliver prevention and intervention programs addressing bullying, mental health, and substance abuse. Promote awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community. 4. Compliance with

State Regulations:

Dedicate at least 90% of work time each week to direct and indirect services to students, in accordance with Arkansas law.

Direct Services:

Individual and group counseling, classroom guidance, and crisis intervention.

Indirect Services:

Consultation, collaboration, and referrals to community resources. Limit administrative duties to no more than 10% of weekly work time. 5.

Collaboration and Advocacy:

Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and administrators to support student achievement and well-being. Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community agencies. Advocate for students to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities. 6.

Recordkeeping and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with district policies and state regulations. Provide data and reports to support school improvement initiatives and counseling program evaluations 7.

Other:

Provide and accept constructive criticism for improvement. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with parents and co-workers to support the mission of the school district. Maintain professional relationships with students. Respond to administrative requests promptly. Comply with all federal and state laws and district policies. Comply with regulations as to hours of arrival and departure from school. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Manual dexterity for the use of office equipment and technology. Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem-solving skills while under stress. Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making. Perform all duties safely and responsibly. Observe all safety precautions.
