The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students. This position involves working closely with children, educators, and families to create a safe and nurturing environment conducive to learning and personal growth. The School Counselor will provide individual and group counseling, implement behavior management strategies, and collaborate with child protective services as needed. Duties Counsel on academic progression and college and career readiness Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students, addressing personal, social, and academic challenges. Develop and implement behavior management plans tailored to meet the needs of students. Collaborate with teachers and staff to create supportive classroom environments that foster student success. Educate students about social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation. Work with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and provide resources for additional support. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress in compliance with school policies. Serve as a liaison between the school and child protective services when necessary to ensure child welfare. Participate in school-wide initiatives aimed at promoting mental health awareness and support. Experience Florida Educator Certification in Guidance Counseling required or in process. A background in social work or related fields is preferred. Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is essential. Demonstrated ability to manage diverse behaviors effectively within a classroom setting. Strong communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and staff.
