Job Description

School Guidance Counselor St. David Catholic School 3900 South University Drive, Davie, FL 33328 Saint David Catholic School, located in Davie, Florida, is hiring a full-time Elementary & Middle School Guidance Counselor for the upcoming 2025-26 school year. The school counselor, under report to the principal, will assist students with personal, family, educational, and emotional issues and collaborate with the administration, faculty, staff, and parents to address the students’ needs. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

Data analysis to identify student challenges, needs and acting as systems change agent to improve equity, access, achievement, and opportunities for students. Short term counseling to students and referrals for long-term support. School counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards. Work under the general supervision of the Assistant Principal and Principal but is responsible for maintaining professional standards in accordance with Parish and Diocesan policies and in alignment with Catholic social teachings in the classroom. Collaborate with students, parents, and guardians in a positive and professional manner to establish positive relationships. Facilitate and attend parent and student workshops. Perform other duties as assigned by Principal or designee.

personally, professionally, and institutionally/organizationally. Conduct monthly counseling lessons. Counseling may focus on academic, emotional, behavioral, or developmental issues to promote enhanced school functioning. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional and ethical standards as required by the State Licensing Board and the School Counseling profession. Develop and implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including but not limited to response to intervention (RTI) and positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS). Serves as a liaison between school parents, teachers and staff. Provide direct care to students through classroom school counseling program, individual counseling, risk assessment and small group counseling. Provide consultation to parents on areas of concern and makes referrals to community services as necessary; Provides crisis intervention. Identify and monitor at- risk students providing support and counsel to students and families. Observe students to evaluate areas of strength, weakness or special education needs and refer families to support services. Maintain confidential records of students’ psycho-educational plans and public school. IEP/504 plans and educational support plans, student intervention. Collaborate with various academic departments (ESE, ESL & ELL), Principals, Teachers, and outside providers for additional services to benefit students.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling or related field required. Holds or is eligible for a Florida Department of Education certificate in school counseling. Ability to maintain a high level of computer and technology skill; Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel. strong organizational skills. Possesses a high degree of knowledge in the field of School Counseling and can convey standard concepts, practices, and procedures clearly and accurately. Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time and to meet multiple deadlines. Effective oral and written English communication skills, including clear speaking voice. Supportive and respectful of the missions and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in a Roman Catholic environment preferred. Must have a professional demeanor.
