The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of St. Joseph Catholic School and the Diocese of Palm Beach. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide a social skills program for grades LL – 8th grade, training students and teachers on the affective dimensions of learning. Help student population in areas of personal/social-emotional, career and academic development. Provide individualized counseling on an as-needed basis for students. Provide group/classroom guidance activities related to student mental health and well-being. Guide middle school students through career exploration and interest surveys. Consult with teachers and administrators on student needs. Meet with parents as needed. Refer students to appropriate program specialists or community agencies. Assist administration as needed with behavioral/disciplinary issues or conferences. Participate in, coordinate and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school. Continue lessons taught by guest speakers in relation to social media as it relates to mental health, so students are reminded and begin to internalize what actions they should/should not take in relation to social media and other age-related issues.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field. Must maintain a valid Florida school counselor certification. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Google Classroom/G-Suite as well as Renweb. Excellent and professional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to build relationships with students, teachers, and parents. Ability to multitask, work independently, and make responsible judgment calls. Strong organizational skills.
