Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement College Readiness Programming:
Design engaging, grade-level appropriate programming that prepares students for the college admissions process, including application timelines, essay writing, financial aid, and scholarships.
Provide Individualized Student Counseling:
Offer one-on-one guidance to students and families regarding academic pathways, college applications, and post-secondary options.
Support Academic Planning:
Assist students with course selection that aligns with graduation requirements and college goals.
Build College Partnerships:
Maintain strong relationships with college admissions representatives and organize college fairs, visits, and informational sessions. Stay Current on Trends in
Higher Education:
Monitor changes in college admissions policies, testing requirements, and financial aid to better support students and families. Collaborate with
Faculty and Staff:
Work closely with teachers, advisors, and administration to support student achievement and college readiness across the curriculum.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in counseling, education, or a related field preferred Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in academic and/or college counseling (preferably in a high school setting) In-depth knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid, and standardized testing Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse students and families Strong organizational and leadership skills Commitment to SLAM Miami’s mission of supporting student growth, achievement, and success beyond high school
