Full Job Description Description:
Orangewood Christian School is seeking an experienced School Counselor to oversee all upper school guidance responsibilities and tasks. Our counselors are building Christian Community within and beyond the school, are active in a church community and serving as Christian role models to students, parents and staff. Counselors are expected to be aware of current trends and research related to the fields of both counseling and education. The director serves the upper school in a diverse role, including but not limited to: oversight of guidance staff, leading in wisdom as the school charts a path against the culture as Christian educators, placing a priority to student concerns to the cost of the day’s tasks, carefully documenting and tracking student educational requirements and supporting families as they seek to partner with Orangewood in the care and nurture of their child. Additionally, employee is responsible for continuing education and completing certification requirements. The Head of Upper School Guidance is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The Head of Upper School Guidance is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.
Essential Function:
Oversight of:
Graduation requirements by all organizations applicable (Bright Futures, State University System, Florida Department of Education, NCAA) Completion of graduation requirements by all high school students, including recommendations for out of school course completion (summer school, DE, virtual courses) All upper school testing (PSAT, ERB, AP) The college admissions process including, submission of transcripts, communication of scholarships, use of Naviance, membership with
SACAC, SAT / ACT
test preparation and communication, application reviews and parent communication. Academic counseling, including academic probation, Guidance Accommodation Plans and transcript concerns Student and family crisis counseling Student cumulative files Maintenance of community resources (counselors, tutors, etc.) Collegeboard account, including holding a title of SSD coordinator Students who choose to access dual enrollment courses in local state colleges Updating of all courses through school NCAA account All parent programs, including junior and senior college nights, course selection nights, Awards night and graduation High school semester exam schedule and distribution Ambassador and Mentor programs Review and distribution of report cards Transcript management Scheduling process including course request, course appeals, completion of the master schedule, completion of individual schedules and drop/add completion Content of the curriculum guide Content of annual school profile Executive Internship program Membership and attendance in Central Florida Consortium of Private School Counselors, including attending the yearly
College Fair Supplemental Function:
Participate as a club sponsor, teacher, coach or chaperon as needed Attend weekly staff meetings Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements:
Education Requirement:
Master’s Degree in School Counseling or related educational field preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree and relevant experience considered.

Holds or is in the process of earning a Florida Educator Certificate. Licensure in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling preferred.
