The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic development of students. This position involves working closely with children, parents, and educators to foster a positive school environment and address various student needs. The School Counselor will provide guidance on personal issues, conflict resolution, and educational pathways while promoting mental health awareness. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students dealing with personal, social, or academic challenges. Develop and implement programs that promote mental health awareness and emotional well-being among students. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create supportive learning environments. Assist in conflict management and resolution among students, fostering a culture of respect and understanding. Conduct assessments and standardized testing to identify student needs and track progress. Support students with special education requirements by collaborating with special education staff. Provide resources related to childcare, child welfare, and protective services when necessary. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress while ensuring confidentiality. Participate in school events and workshops to promote counseling services and engage with the school community. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Experience working with children in an educational or counseling setting is highly desirable. Strong skills in conflict management and behavior management techniques. Knowledge of child protective services and child welfare systems is a plus. Familiarity with mental health counseling practices relevant to children and adolescents. Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
