SUMMARY:

Ensures compliance with IDEA, Georgia Rules and Fayette County Exceptional Children Services procedures in the schools assigned. Facilitates and provides specialized expertise in instructional and behavioral support for students with disabilities; identifies educational needs and provides classroom support for teachers of students with disabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance 2.Ensure students with disabilities have current and compliant Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) 3.Monitor timelines for initial evaluations and re-evaluations of students with disabilities 4.Facilitate eligibility, IEP, and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) meetings 5.Maintain budget for school-based special education funds 6.Complete and maintain federal, state, and local documentation for Full-time Equivalent (FTE) reports 7.Maintain confidentiality of records and monitor student files 8.Consult with administration regarding behavioral concerns/discipline issues for students with disabilities 9.Conduct classroom and student observations 10.Ensure that teachers and administrators have appropriate information regarding assessments and accommodations for students with disabilities 11.Disseminate information from ECS to school staff 12.Attend ECS meetings, school-based faculty meetings, and professional learning as required 13.Conduct school based professional learning and in-service activities on current trends and issues related to special education 14.Consult with RTI Coordinator regarding appropriate interventions for students with needs 15.Perform other duties as assigned and allowable by intended program

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university Valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in appropriate educational field Minimum of 3 years’ special education teaching experience Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience administering assessments and interpreting the results

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent 2023 bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling and repetitive fine motor activities. Prolonged periods of standing, walking and sitting. Vision, hearing and verbal communications are essential functions of this position.
