General:

Participates in professional organizations, workshops, and staff development activities and applies what is learned to the job; accepts new challenges in a professional manner. Counselor:
Plans, develops, and implements a comprehensive school counseling program based on the needs of the students and the school. Plans, develops, and implements action plans based on the needs of the students and the school. Provides classroom guidance, school counseling, and individual counseling that relates to the academic, career, and personal/social development of students. Coordinates with school staff to provide supportive instructional classroom activities that relate to student academic, career, and personal/social development of the student. Confers and counsels with parents, administrators, and teachers. Collects and reports on student outcomes from classroom guidance, small group, and individual consultations. Collects data and prepares reports associated with the position as required by local, state and federal agencies. Protects the confidentiality of student records and student information. Helps to identify students with special needs. Participates in school and county committees. Facilitates the referral of students and parents to internal and external services. Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications. Reviews and interprets transcripts, student individuals educational plan(IEPs), and test data for students. Assists in providing placement services by helping teachers and administrators with advisement and scheduling of new and enrolled students. Stay abreast of state board rules relating to but not limited to student enrollment requirements, student data collection and reporting, and College and Career Ready Performance Indicators (CCRPI). Coordinates transitional activities with feeder schools. Assists with the coordination of state and local standardized testing of students. Interprets standardized tests and state-mandated tests. Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
