We are excited to bring Discovery education to the state of Louisiana through our second corporate partnership with Ochsner Health. Discovery Fusion opened in the August 2024-25 school year, starting with grades 5th through 8th. The school will expand to educate students in 4th-10th grade during the 2025-2026 school year. Eventually, Discovery Fusion will educate students in grades K – 12th when finally at full capacity.

School Counselor (Social/Emotional Support) Discovery Fusion School (servicing grades 4th-10th) seeks a School Counselor with LPC or LCSW licensure; advanced certification in virtual/online counseling is desirable. 5+ years’ experience is preferable. As a new school, in its second year, a counselor will be expected to be flexible within the position, fulfilling a handful of integral job duties including provision of in-person social/emotional and behavioral counseling and support to students, provision of virtual, on-line social/emotional counseling and support for students, overseeing attendance along with a small team, meeting with parents and faculty to offer varying levels of support and guidance, working collectively and collaboratively with the counseling team employed under the Discovery Schools Network, fulfilling IEP and 504 related services for counseling. Strong sense of maintaining confidentiality, being solution-oriented, and working with administrators while collaborating closely with parents, faculty, and staff. Familiarity with PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support), Restorative Justice, Safety Care, and creation of behavior plans to assist in successful/effective classroom management is essential. Collaborate with counselors, mental health, and social agencies beyond the school walls to help families wrap services around their children’s needs. The ability to implement and document student counseling goals and minutes within the confines of SPED IEPs and 504 plans is critical. Accurate record-keeping is vital. Participate in and provide professional development training yearly to include counseling topics, such as bullying, abuse/neglect, suicide prevention and intervention, student audits, and other cogent topics as needed.
