Description We are seeking an empathetic and dedicated School Counselor to join our high school student support team for the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting student well-being, academic success, and personal growth through individualized guidance, proactive programming, and collaborative support services. This position plays a vital role in helping all students navigate academic challenges, social-emotional development, and college or career planning in alignment with their personal goals and potential. Primary Responsibilities Provide direct counseling support to students in individual and small group settings, addressing academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs based on developmental and situational factors. Create and implement school-based support plans that reflect students’ strengths and challenges, ensuring equitable access to academic and emotional support services; collaborate with teachers and staff for effective implementation. Partner with classroom teachers to develop and adapt strategies that foster positive student engagement, emotional regulation, and social development within the classroom setting. Utilize evidence-based counseling practices, social-emotional learning (SEL) frameworks, and preventative interventions to address a range of student needs. Monitor student progress toward counseling goals through data collection, behavior observations, and regular feedback; communicate findings and recommendations with families and student support teams. Facilitate and participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings, 504 planning, and other student-centered support processes; ensure compliance with school policies and state/federal guidelines. Foster a safe, inclusive school environment that encourages student voice, builds resilience, and supports healthy peer and adult relationships. Maintain timely and effective communication with students, families, educators, and school leaders to ensure coordinated support and responsive interventions. Lead or support structured SEL programming and skill-building workshops focused on areas such as stress management, conflict resolution, executive functioning, and postsecondary planning. Actively engage in professional development, school-wide initiatives, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support student well-being and success.

Additional duties as assigned and approved by the School Counseling Chairperson and the
Administration Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field strongly preferred ). Massachusetts DESE School Counselor license (5-12) required or in progress . Experience supporting high school students in academic, social-emotional, and/or college and career development contexts (preferred). Strong understanding of adolescent development, mental health concerns, and student support systems, including 504 Plans and MTSS frameworks. Proficiency in implementing evidence-based counseling practices, SEL curricula, and tools that promote student self-awareness, coping strategies, and goal setting. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to collaboration with faculty, families, and multidisciplinary support teams. Willingness to contribute to the school’s co-curricular programming and mission-driven initiatives.
