Job Overview:

Libertas Academy’s School Counselor will assist students to: understand and make maximum use of their abilities, meet the demands of school expectations, develop positive interpersonal relationships, and set goals and meet achievement levels appropriate to those goals. Additionally, the School Counselor will serve as a student advocate; serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, and students; assist staff and families with crisis intervention; and provide counseling services per students’ IEPs and 504 Plans as appropriate. Job Duties Plan, organize and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program based upon the developmental and individual needs of students and in collaboration with building level administrators; Deliver counseling services through classroom instruction, interdisciplinary curriculum, group activities, individual or small group appraisal and advisement, consultation, individual and small group counseling, crisis counseling/response and peer facilitation; Monitor the academic progress of students and coordinate appropriate interventions to improve student achievement and attendance Attend SST meetings as needed Analyze and interpret a variety of data in order to assist in the development of an appropriate educational plan for students Assist students in planning realistic educational goals and understanding their aptitude and ability Counsel students to help them overcome potentially disabling educational, personal, behavioral and social problems. Draft behavioral plans as needed Provide counseling services to students per their Individual Education Plans and 504 Plans Provide feedback and support to teachers regarding student social and emotional needs Provide training and oversight to staff on matters related to child abuse reporting and suicide prevention Consult with representatives of public and private agencies in providing information regarding students for possible referrals to other supportive services or agencies within the community Consult with parents and guardians as appropriate regarding educational, social and vocational needs of their students Facilitate student/teacher/counselor/parent conferences regarding student’s educational or social/emotional progress and future educational goals Consult and confer with parents and guardians, staff members, and students to facilitate student articulation between schools and grade levels Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of the school counseling program and to guide program initiatives Respond to all UA GroupMe requests in a timely fashion. Ensure every reactive session is logged in the appropriate google survey. Be present in classes. Collaborate with colleagues in formal spaces, such as huddle and grade-level team time. Collaborate with your coach to determine an initiative or strategy for improving social-emotional supports in UA. Academy Principal or Coach Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred Master’s Degree in counseling, education, or a related field Must hold or be working towards an appropriate license issued by Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Work or Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health Professionals Must pass Communications & Literacy MTEL within the first year of employment Knowledge of intellectual, emotional, social, and physical development of adolescents Knowledge of and ability to apply interpersonal communication techniques Ability to understand and accept individual differences in children and parents Ability to effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions at the individual, small group, and school-wide Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles to goal achievement Demonstrates a drive, commitment and sense of urgency that inspires others to Salary & Benefits $60,000-$75,000 Apply Now To apply, please send a resume and cover letter to .
