POSITION OVERVIEW
The Secondary METCO Coordinator’s responsibilities deal with the developmental and academic needs of Boston resident students Grades K-5 . The Elementary METCO Coordinator will actively support student academic achievement and the cultural and social adjustment of students and families. The Elementary METCO Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with academic, behavioral, and social support, for students in collaboration with the METCO Director, families and school personnel. The successful candidate will develop strong and collaborative relationships with student, parents, faculty, staff, and other METCO advocates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and facilitate academic support services such as homework sessions, tutoring, and study halls in partnership with teachers and specialists. Collaborate with teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators to monitor and assess the academic and social progress of Boston resident students. Serve as a liaison between students, teachers, parents, and families to ensure clear communication and support for academic and behavioral goals. Provide individual and group advising to address academic, emotional, and social challenges; offer mentoring to support student development and success. Assist families with active needs in collaboration with Director, school personnel and community resources. Serve as a member of SPED teams for Boston resident students and participate in parent/teacher conferences as requested by principal and/or family ; Meet regularly with the METCO Director to discuss and advocate for students progress and overall status as a scholar. Collaborate with the METCO Director to design and implement programs that enhance support and community among Boston resident students and their peers.. Develop transition programs for key academic milestones (e.g., 5th to 6th grade, 8th to 9th grade) in coordination with other school-level staff. Coordinate logistics for after-school programming, including transportation, by working closely with the METCO Director, transportation manager, and school personnel to ensure equitable student access. Communicate with parents/caregivers regularly to report on students progress (academic, social, behavioral) Facilitate and support workshops on skills such as study habits, conflict resolution, identity, and diversity awareness. Attend all METCO team meetings and carry out additional duties as assigned by the METCO Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and or equivalent work experience 2-5 years of experience working with children Experience in addressing and advocating for students’ needs Experience with implementing and/or facilitating student programming, preferred Experience working with students in a school setting, preferred Experience working in a METCO program, preferred Current authorization to work in the United States – Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
TERMS:
Non-Union, Work year; 180 school days, plus an additional 10 days (to be determined by immediate supervisor)

School day hours, plus after school when needed to support students.
