Position Summary Academic Success Coach Academic Advising
Full-Time, Grant-Funded Term Position Academic Advising is seeking an academic success coach who will be responsible for overseeing activities and outreach to students to increase retention and graduation. The academic success coach will implement an intrusive advising plan with outreach for students at varying levels of risk. The success coach will supervise peer advisors to support intrusive advising efforts and will implement a summer program focused on college readiness. The success coach will be knowledgeable of academic advising and academic coaching practices. The academic success coach will work collaboratively with units on campus providing academic and transitional resources to students, making appropriate referrals. Primary Responsibilities Oversee academic coaching activities to increase retention and graduation of program participants: Implements and coordinates intrusive activities and services for participants transitioning to college (i.e., time management skills, development of study habits, understanding financial responsibility and financial aid/scholarship opportunities, and resiliency skills).
Connects students to campus resources based on identified student needs
Conducts one-on-one meetings with students to check academic progress, addressing transition concerns
Utilizes the early alert system to create success plans, monitor student progress, keep detailed meeting notes, and document referrals to university resources
Completes written reports and data summaries related to Academic Coaching and retention-based programs
Selects and trains Peer Advisors to assist with intrusive activities leading to student success and retention Provide intrusive academic advising for program students.

Teach students to:

Interpret and learn academic policies and procedures
Identify academic objectives
Identify major and career options Onboard new students by supporting at: Early summer programs
Freshmen orientation
Transfer orientation
Recruitment Events Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Knowledge of academic advising, counseling, or a closely related area through work experience or an educational setting
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience working as part of a team in a collaborative work environment
Evidence of the ability to exercise sound judgment
Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours, consistent with student needs
Excellent computer skills, including
