The Academic Support Programs unit within the CSSFYE provides holistic support to students served. Learning Specialists work with students on academic standing policies, resources, etc.

  • 5 Min Mid Max $42,640 $53,310 $63,980 Role Summary Advises students on academic matters, such as course selection and degree requirements, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality to ensure students reach academic, personal, and professional success.

Working with students who are academically at-risk (on Academic Warning, Academic Probation, Academic Suspension, and returning from Academic Dismissal). Previous experience in this area is a plus. Time management and organization are two important skills for this position. Mentoring students. Developing potential strategies for study skills and/or tutoring. Teaching Academic Support Program Courses Examples of Work Performed Managing University Tutoring Program (recruiting and hiring tutors, onboarding to Academic Support, pairing with students requesting tutoring, and evaluation of the program each semester) Assisting with Graduate Assistants Attending Weekly Departmental and Unit Staff Meetings Conducting Academic Consultations on Study Skills, Time Management, and Organization with students Working through parent/family referrals for consults and/or coaching opportunities Essential Functions These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department. 1. Receives, processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures. 2.Serves as a main point of contact for students providing basic organizational information about educational options, academic requirements and institutional resources and addressing their needs. 3.Counsels students in identifying and assessing their interests, skills and values to match appropriate fields of study and career options and refers students to appropriate institutional resources. 4. Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records according to program policies.
