1 Year/PT Counselor

    The Mont Vernon Village School is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a School Social Worker / School Counselor.

The ideal candidate would be a clinical social worker certified as a school counselor or school social worker. If a certification is not held, a Statement of Eligibility would be required. They would have experience working with elementary aged students in individual and small group settings as well as whole classes. This educator will help to implement a social-emotional learning program including weekly guidance classes and counseling services to students with significant emotional needs. This individual will work closely with the school administrator, related service providers, special educators, para-educators, teachers, and parents to develop strategies and interventions to support students in need. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are an expectation and requirement.
The position will remain posted until a highly qualified and capable candidate is hired. Start date for this position will be late August.

Requirements:
  • Must possess a Master’s degree and be certified by the New Hampshire Department of Education as a School Social Worker (0049)
    or School Counselor (0040). If certification is not held, a Statement of Eligibility is required.
  • 3-5 years of successful experience working with students in a school setting who have significant social/emotional needs or previous
    counselor / social work experience preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, articulate, creative, people-oriented, and caring.
  • Expert in dealing with elementary school-aged students and their families.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to School Administrative Unit 39’s Mission Statement to “Engage, Challenge, and Support All Learners”
Qualifications:
  • Case manage 504 services for students.
  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
  • Collaborate with school administration in student placement process.
  • Serve as the school’s homeless liaison and testing coordinator.
  • Work with school staff as an active member of the Response to Instruction team at all grade levels.
  • Provide a link between students and appropriate community resources and outside agencies.
