EOP Academic Specialist (Grant Funded Position) 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 1 Academic Dr, Corning, NY 14830 This is a part-time, grant funded position though August 22, 2025. The EOP Academic Specialist is responsible for providing targeted academic support services to students participating in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). The specialist works closely with EOP counselors, the director, and other campus support services to foster academic success, persistence, and self-efficacy in students. This role includes individual and group tutoring, academic skills development, and proactive student engagement to enhance learning outcomes. The position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate student needs. Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the community may be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Prolonged time sitting/standing working with computers and monitors, ability to walk/move across campus including walking up and down stairs, ability to lift up to 20 pounds (occasionally may be more), repeated motions may include keyboard typing. Typical office and indoor building environments; occasional outdoor activity may be required. Incumbent must perform the essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation. Essential Functions Academic Support (50%) – Provide individual and group tutoring, study skills workshops, and learning strategies to enhance academic success. Effectively communicate with faculty to identify and address student academic needs and challenges. Skill Development (25%) – Conduct workshops on academic skill-building, including time management, study techniques, note-taking, test preparation, and writing skills. Assist students in developing personalized academic plans that align with their educational and career goals. Monitoring & Reporting (20%) – Track students’ academic progress and provide regular updates to EOP counselors and the director. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of academic interventions, student attendance, and support services provided. Miscellaneous (5%) – Other duties as assigned. Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and culturally aware community. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field. Experience providing academic support to college students, particularly those from historically disadvantaged backgrounds. Familiarity with Educational Opportunity Programs and their objectives. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading workshops on student learning strategies. Knowledge of meta-cognitive strategies to enhance deep learning. Strong ability to connect and build trust with students. Ability to identify and address academic struggles that students encounter.
