Job Description

School Counselor Sayegh Pediatric Therapy Services Allentown, PA 18101 Overview Sayegh Pediatric Therapy Services is seeking a a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our educational team across our Catholic School network and cyber (online) learning environments. The ideal candidate is mission-driven, empathetic and supportive to the emotional, academic and spiritual development of our students. The unique role requires flexibility to address the needs of our students in person and online. . This position requires a strong understanding of childhood development, mental health counseling, and behavior management strategies. The School Counselor will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community resources to create a nurturing environment that fosters student growth and well-being. Duties Support students in developing coping strategies, resilience and problem solving skills. Implement behavior management strategies to support positive student behavior in the classroom. Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. Conduct assessments to identify student needs and recommend appropriate interventions. Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions and student progress. Advocate for child welfare by connecting families with community resources and support services. Facilitate workshops and seminars on mental health awareness and childhood development for parents and staff. Qualifications Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field is required. Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor. Experience in classroom settings or special education is preferred. Strong knowledge of mental health counseling techniques and child welfare policies. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Ability to manage challenging behaviors while fostering a supportive learning environment. Familiarity with Christian counseling principles is a plus. Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of school counseling.
