Position Description Advertised Job Summary Academic Advisors willcate and guide primarily first and second year degree seeking students in their transition to college life through the development of meaningfulcational planning, major selection, co-curricular opportunities, relevant academic information, university processes, new student success strategies, and applicable campus resources. Academic Advisors will maintain an assigned student caseload assisting students with their academic requirements, the creation andor modification of degreepletion plans, and enrollment processes. Academic Advisors will utilize technology to monitor student risk trends over time, track student performance and progress toward graduation, and proactively reach out to student in an effort assess potential roadblocks, take early action to mitigate them, and advocate on behalf of students. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalentbination of job related certification, training,cation, andor experience. Provides appropriate campus based referral services that support student success and retention in areas of focus including; acclimation to the college environment and faculty expectations, goal setting, academic skills, financial aid, admissions requirements, course requirements, career choices, student activities, and institutional policies and prores. Responsible for creating and administering departmental social media in order to ensure that students are aware of academic deadlines and the advising process. Manage and update online materials and resources. Responsible for the oversight of placement testing databases.
