The purpose of this job is to assist the school administration and staff in implementing research-based interventions to decrease inappropriate student behaviors and increase academic achievement. Responsibilities Acts in a professional, respectful, and welcoming manner at all times. Creates a customer-focused climate and provides quality services and support to the school and other stakeholders. Supports and promotes the school’s overall mission and vision. Complies with applicable district, state, and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. Assists administrators and staff with safety throughout the school by monitoring students immediately before and after school, classroom, cafeteria, halls, and school grounds. Uses appropriate communication skills to encourage students to acknowledge inappropriate behavior, accept responsibility for behavior, and identify ways to improve behavior. Gathers data regarding discipline, attendance, and academic achievement, and other pertinent information regarding students. Provides data to administrators and staff with the goal of improving student behavior and academic achievement. Works with administration and staff to develop and implement Behavior Improvement Plans (BIP). Uses researched-based interventions with students to improve student behavior. NEVER administers corporal punishment. Follows school policies, district policies and state/federal laws pertaining to discipline of students. Assists staff and administrators in developing intervention behavior plans. Monitors plans and recommends changes to staff and administrators as needed. Communicates through the proper channels to keep supervisor and other appropriate personnel informed of impending problems or events of unusual nature. Follows established procedures for ensuring assigned areas are safe. Works collaboratively with administration, principals, secretaries, staff, and other stakeholders. Attends work and arrives to work on time. Maintains confidentiality. Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law. Uses technology to enter and maintain data concerning student behavior. Completes forms and produces reports as requested by the administration and staff. Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, sending/receiving faxes, or filing documentation. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Knowledge/Education/Experience:

Four-year college degree preferred. Trained in at least one research-based strategy for classroom management and/or student behavior such as conflict resolution or peer mediation preferred. Two (2) years of successful experience working in an urban school preferred. Or, any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must attend CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training or other training if required by school administrators.

Skills/Qualifications:

Ability to use good judgment in assessing situations and ing behavior management strategies that de-escalate inappropriate student behavior. Ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, staff, students, parents, and other stakeholders. Ability to gather student information from different sources and use information to make recommendations to administrators, staff, students, and parents to improve student behavior and academic achievement. Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to calculate decimals and percentages. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

Compensation:

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Grade G
