Remote College Coach Mansfield Hall Burlington, VT • Remote Canopy College Coaching, a division of Mansfield Hall, is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a College Coach . In this remote role, the College Coach will play a crucial part in providing online academic coaching, tutoring, and mentorship to help students achieve their educational goals. The coach supports students in building independence, self-determination, and self-advocacy, while fostering a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented learning environment. This is a part-time position focused on guiding students through the online college experience and supporting them in academic success. The schedule for this role is 10-20 hours weekly, connecting with students during agreed upon times, plus weekly supervision and some team meetings
Essential Functions:
Conduct weekly, online coaching sessions with students to support their academic and college life, emphasizing intrinsic motivation, growth, and goal setting. Provide direct academic tutoring, coaching, and mentorship to students, offering guidance in their coursework and college experience. Support students during daily Office Hours and Structured Study Time to ensure academic focus and progress. Build positive relationships and model positive social interactions, providing appropriate feedback, coaching, and mentorship to foster independence and self-advocacy. Communicate effectively and collaborate with supervisors and other College Coaches through session notes, calibration meetings, and supervision with senior staff. Maintain organizational databases, including academic communication and student planning, using online systems. Assist students in accessing learning resources on their campuses, guiding them toward appropriate academic tools and supports. Meet regularly one-on-one with students to assess progress toward academic and personal goals, providing direct instruction as needed. Identify and anticipate student academic challenges, such as attendance, grades, course planning, and project management, using Learning Management Systems (LMS), calendars, and task tracking tools. Support students in setting and achieving academic and personal goals, contributing to their college and life success. Attend all scheduled meetings as directed by supervisors. Perform other duties essential to the functioning of the Canopy College Coaching program.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences or related fields. Minimum of one year of direct academic tutoring, coaching, or support for students with diverse learning needs. Proven ability to develop strong professional relationships with students in an online setting. Demonstrated success in supporting students in achieving personal and academic goals. Proven success working both independently in a remote environment and collaboratively as part of a remote team. Ability to create a fun, inclusive, and engaging online learning environment for students.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail and experience in managing online communication and planning tools. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a remote setting. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize and summarize information effectively for remote collaboration.
Working Conditions:
Internal:
Work is performed remotely in a home-office environment, with moderate noise from online meetings and office equipment. The role requires effective self-management and focus within a remote setting.
External:
Limited travel may be required for team meetings or occasional student support in person.
Physical Demands:
The role involves prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Eye strain from extensive computer work may occur. The ability to lift up to 30 pounds (such as office equipment or supplies) may be required occasionally.
