Position Overview:
Winooski Middle High School is seeking a highly motivated Behavior Specialist to join a team of dedicated and student centered professionals. This position plays a key role in supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students through a structured behavioral support program in our Wellnessspace and in our school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who builds strong relationships with students, collaborates effectively with colleagues and families, and is passionate about helping all students thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Support, collaborate, and refine a behavioral support program focused on skills such as anger management, social skills, and problem-solving. Oversee daily operations of the Wellness room and common spaces in our school. Collaborate closely with Student Success and Integration coaches, school counselors, SAP counselor, District Liaison Officer, classroom teachers, and special educators. Support classroom teachers in helping students maintain academic responsibilities while addressing behavioral needs. Coordinate academic materials and communication with families of students participating in the SSR/Wellness program. Collect participation data and conduct annual program evaluations. Attend relevant staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training sessions. •
What We’re Looking For:
Someone with a strong commitment to equity and student wellbeing. Proven ability to build rapport and maintain clear, respectful communication with students, families, and colleagues. Experience or training in behavioral interventions, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches is a plus. Ability to work both proactively and responsively with students who struggle with emotional or behavioral regulation. A collaborative, team-first mindset.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred. Experience working with adolescents in a school or therapeutic setting is strongly preferred.
