Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Dean of Student Success, the employee coordinates and maintains information on various career opportunities for the college with a primary focus on Career Tech and Health Science programs. Plans and implements career development activities and performs various administrative tasks related to career counseling and assisting students in job search issues. Guide, advise, and support students through the career planning, decision-making, and job searching processes by assisting students in analyzing their interests and skills and developing career goals. The employee is also responsible forpleting monthly progress plans for the Success Coach program participants in the targeted high schools and preparing program participants to enter and succeed in postsecondary education and/or the workforce, including the military.

Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3 (range: $50,306

  • $97,216).

This position involves performance duties for a state funded project and is contingent on continued state funding. In the event that funds for this position are discontinued or significantly reduced or if state requirements for funding this project no longer include this position, the College shall have the right to discontinue the position. Neither tenure or non-probationary status may be attained in this position.

ANTICIPATED START DATE

JULY 1, 2025
The position will be based initially at the Sparks Campus in Eufaula.
More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Career Resources Lab Operations. Maintains and operates the Career Resources Lab to assist students in researching career paths and employment opportunities. Plan, market, and implement career-related programs and gather data to analyze program effectiveness.
Designs and implements outreach programs to promote and encourage students, faculty, and staff to use career services.
Develops promotional materials and strategies for the career counseling program.
Assists students in finding career information on the web.
Updates assigned web pages.
Serves as a liaison to academic departments.
Maintains library of education and career information to include college and career catalogues, brochures, periodicals books, etc.; reviews and updates information as needed.
Maintainsputers, including software, to assist students with resume writing, job searches, and interview skills.
Promotes Career Resource Lab activities such as career fairs and other special events to students, staff, and faculty.
Orders, administers, and distributes scores for various career aptitude and vocational tests; reviews test results with students.
Submits requisitions for materials, supplies, and food associated with Career Resource Lab activities.
Survey students and service-area businesses to evaluate the effectiveness of services.
Make presentations explaining Career Resource Lab’s purpose and services.
Manages Career Resources Lab budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Job Search, Placement, and Tracking. Employee provides information related to specific jobs, provides on-on-one counseling and leverages business relationships to assist in job placement.
Keeps abreast of career information, including average salaries, demands, the level of education required, and employment projections.
Apanied students on college or business tours as needed.
Advises and counsels undecided students through the career development.
Assists in the orientation process for new students with emphasis on career information, exploration, and selection.
Coordinates career fairs on both WCC campuses; sends invitations; manages setup; creates and distributes publications; and orders food.
Assists students on job search techniques including resume writing and interview skills.
Advise students on career choices. Sends suitable job vacancy information to specific students.
Sends general email blasts to all students regarding job opportunities.
Develops working relationships with area employers to assist in placing students in appropriate jobs.
Provides seminars about job search skills.
Maintains an online job board used by students and employers.
Surveys students and employers to evaluate the effectiveness of services.
Tracks student employment and wage data and keeps detailed records.
Meets with students one-on-one to discuss career and educational information.
Works with military recruiters to refer students as needed.
The employee also follows up with students after graduation or coursepletion to track employment and wage data.
Attends workforce development conferences and accesses webinars to remain up-to-date.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Success Coach Advising. Assists low-ie and first-generation students in identifying their values, interests, and abilities and in clarifying their academic and career goals.
Provide career exploration opportunities and serves as a liaison with target high schools
Assists in the identification and selection of participants.
Prepares and conducts student success workshops in target schools.
Advises and sets academic, personal, and career goals with participants.
Completes an academic progress plan for each participant.
Provides participants with course selection information.
Maintains regular personal contact with participants enrolled in the Success Coach project to discuss any personal, academic, financial, career exploration, and other problems they are experiencing.
Advises and assists participants with needed academic support services.
Refers to any counseling problems for review and assistance.
Remains familiar with postsecondary technical educational requirements, current career information, and trends to advise participants on a suitable career tech path properly.
Provides job readiness instruction; and assists prospective students with career assessments, admissions, financial aid, and registration procedures of the College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Success Coach Cultural Enrichment and Community Involvement. Conducts and participates in programs and events to enhance participant success.
Develops, plans, and conducts cultural enrichment and other project activities.
Visits all participating target schools and consults with school representatives regularly concerning participants’ progress.
Apanied participants in cultural enrichment activities and career fairs.
Conducts recruitment activities within themunity (e.g., providing information packets, visiting target schools, attending open houses andmunity events, and collaborating with local agencies).
Participates in planning and implementing industry tours.
Serves as the podcaster for Wallace Connects, which includes creating content, researching topics, writing scripts, interviewing guests, recording episodes, and promoting the podcast to attract listeners.
Provides public relations, promotional activities, and coordination with WCC departments, target school personnel, andmunityanizations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Program Operations. Performs program activities to ensure efficient, high-quality services are provided to students.
Generates and maintainsprehensive participant records to document personal growth and academic progress.
Monitors the academic progress of participants each grading period through report card checks.
Coordinates target school visits with school personnel.
Maintains contact with high school counselors concerning participant progress.
Receives and checkspleted application packets.
Coordinate with parents to schedule intake interviews.
Conduct interviews with applicants and parents.
Monitors school system calendars for uing events.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

General Operations. Performs duties to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the program and department.
Answers inquiries, makes appointments and provides information regarding the college’s standards, procedures, and programs.
Performs clerical and typing work related to the office.
Composes routine correspondence; prepares reports, documents and records ensuring accuracy,pleteness, and conformance to applicable rules and regulations.
Serves on Collegemittees as requested.
Assists Workforce Development/Non-credit Staff with projects or courses, as required. Sets up new classes in the Collegeputer system; enters course information. Handles advertising for all assigned programs.
Collects and enters student information in the system.
Maintains all files for each program; handles all daily tasks involved in all assigned programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Two years of full-time experience in assessing, advising, and/or providing information to students OR two years of relevant experience in career services, counseling, student personnel, human resources, or equivalentbination is required.
Ability to work non-standard hours and extended hours as necessary is required. Current and valid driver’s license with the ability to drive an authorized automobile to area high schools, colleges, enrichment activities, professional development, and meetings is required.
Experience working in a college setting is preferred.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. Thismittee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interviews, and demonstration ofpetency, to determine which applicants are to be rmended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisorymittee will select the applicants to be interviewed. Applicants must travel at their own expense for interviews that are conducted in person.
