QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, communication of related field. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations. Experience working in industry is preferred.

High School Principal
SUPERVISES
Students and assigned personnel
CONTRACT DAYS
202 days.
SALARY:
Salary is based on appropriate step on the approved OCS salary schedule.
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
JOB GOAL
Represent the Career Coach Program in local schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote CTE programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. 1. Attend school during assigned hours. 2. Adhere to school system rules, administration procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations. 3. Attend faculty and other assigned meetings. 4. Participate in the State Board and system required in-service and professional development. 5. Assists in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. 6. Perform reasonable duties necessary for the safe and effective operation of the school. 7. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law. 8. Exhibit pleasing personality, enthusiastic, positive attitude and human relations skills, evidence of trustworthiness and professional ethics. 9. Knowledge in business and industry, what it takes to be successful in the world of work, Alabama Achieves Strategic Plan and current employment trends. 10. Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication. 11. Demonstrate competency in the use of computers and available technology. 12. Contribute to the overall development of an effective school program. 13. Organize and communicate subject matter. 14. Represent the Career Coach Program in local schools and conduct public relations efforts to promote CTE programs. 15. Possess a working knowledge of the Alabama Career Development Model and assist with its implementation. 16. Provide career development guidance for middle and high school students with emphasis on technical programs. 17. Plan and implement student recruitment activities for technical programs. 18. Possess a working knowledge of the Alabama Career Planning System and assist with its implementation in elementary, middle, and high schools. 19. Assist elementary and secondary students with career exploration activities and career assessments. 20. Assist students with college admissions, financial aid—including FAFSA—and registration procedures. 21. Provide information to educators, students, and their families regarding the current job market and career choices. 22. Conduct classroom presentations promoting college and career programs and activities. 23. Schedule and attend college campus tours and industry tours with students. 24. Assist with coordinating job shadowing and other work-based learning opportunities for students. 25. Maintain an ongoing database of career coach services available and submit reports of completed activities. 26. Comply with all policies of the LEA and the Alabama State Department of Education. 27. Organize and manage a classroom conducive to successful learning experiences. 28. Evaluate student performance and progress. 29. Provide individualized instruction as required. 30. Record and maintain necessary records and reports. 31. Provide supervision and discipline. 32. Work constructively with parents, student and other teachers. 33. Supervise the distribution, use, care and inventory of textbooks and other school provided devices. 34. Determine student needs and objectives. 35. Implement activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. 36. Engage in personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership. 37. Communicate concerns and requests to administrators in an appropriate and timely manner. 38. Perform other duties as might be reasonably assigned by the Principal or Superintendent or by direction of the Board.
