Position Summary The primary task of the Advisor is to promote the college in order to increase student enrollment. Provides advisement during registration, enrollment periods and throughout the year. Must adhere to a flexible work schedule and perform other job-related duties as directed by the Coordinator of Advising, Associate Dean of Enrollment and Retention, Dean of Student Affairs and the President.

Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule C3: (Salary range: $38,213 – $88,287)

Full time employees are entitled to the College’s benefit package to include: PEEHIP, retirement, leave (annual, sick, and personal), etc. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following: Promote the college to increase enrollment. Assist students with navigating the registration process when needed.
Assist students with building schedules and following their degree plan.
Assist students with class selections if needed.
Provide general academic and career advice and guidance.
Teach an Orientation 101 class.
Make contact with area principals, counselors, and teachers.
Assure prospective students receive college publications when requested. Responsible for calling/writing prospective students and students who do not return—retention-based activities.
Responsible for communicating continual retention patterns with instructors.
Provide advising and career development services to new and returning students.
Coordinate special on-site advising sessions as needed in the high schools.
Assist in the coordination of financial aid seminars, admission seminars, etc., as requested.
Develop and/or assist with creation and approval of promotional brochures, posters, folders, calendars, and other items used for recruitment. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college Experience working with secondary or postsecondary students
Ability to speak to large audiences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in Banner is preferred.
