DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE

Coordinator/Director – Career Connection Center and Career & Technical Education

REPORTS TO

Chief Learning Officer

JOB GOAL

To administer and supervise all activities and personnel within the center, establish an educational environment that motivates faculty and students to develop to their full potential, and administer the district’s career and technical education program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from an accredited institution with certification in education administration or equivalent credential Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience Minimum of two (2) years of successful administrative experience preferred Secondary Education Experience preferred Knowledge of school law, regulations, statutes, rules, and policies affecting education and the school system Knowledge of Career Technical Education programs and workforce development skills Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication Knowledge of curriculum development, educational technology, and staff development principles Ability to integrate knowledge into best practices to support teaching and learning Ability to motivate, delegate, evaluate, and supervise others effectively Knowledge of school finance to include federal and grant funding, and acceptance of fiscal accountability Such alternatives to the above qualifications as state, federal, and local law, and the Board may require

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and priorities Oversees and is accountable for all aspects of the center, including but not limited to personnel, students, instructional and extracurricular programs, school safety/crisis management, facilities, and all activities therein Oversees the administration of the district’s career and technical education program and ensures its compliance, reporting, and participation in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines Collaborates with district personnel, high school principals, and industry partners to provide appropriate career and college readiness, career and college awareness, and work experience opportunities for all students, and assists the school system in meeting state targets for career-ready graduates Serves as liaison between the school and local workforce development agencies and representatives Facilitates effective professional development to enhance student achievement Serves as a consultant to professional staff and administrators on matters pertaining to career and technical education, career and college readiness standards, and interpretation of laws affecting career and technical education and workforce development Takes initiative to research workforce development programs and ensures the relevancy of programs to support students effectively Assists in the career and technical education instructional resource adoption and selection process Models and maintains high ethical standards Implements all board policies, administrative rules, and regulations Manages and supervises the center’s financial resources, including preparing and disbursing the center’s budget and internal accounts Maintains inventory of facility property in accordance with system financial procedures and oversees the upkeep of the building and grounds Supervises the preparation of all required reports, student records, and the center’s internal accounts to the appropriate district and state entities Supervises the selection and retention efforts of all instructional and support staff; makes recommendations regarding employment, work assignment, professional development needs, transfer, release, and any other staffing-related issues Ensures the evaluation of all staff is completed according to state and district guidelines Communicates policies, procedures, and instructional program guidelines and updates to staff effectively Maintains standards of student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct Conducts activities that will enhance a positive climate for staff, students, parents, and community shareholders Maintains confidentiality regarding workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law Adheres to local Board policies, administrative procedures, and other like directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws Performs other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s) This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position.
