SUMMARY OF PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Assistant Executive Director, the Employment Specialist will be responsible for assisting Triumph individuals through the successful completion in attaining and retaining competitive employment opportunities in the community. The Employment Specialist will also be responsible to provide extended services to individuals who are seeking employment or to individuals who have already obtained employment and require supplemental services to maintain their position.

A. RESPONSIBILITIES

FUNCTIONS 1.

Identify potential employers in the community for adults with developmental disabilities; 2. Assist individuals with assessment of their abilities for appropriate employment; 3. Assist individuals in obtaining employment; 4. Assist in one-on-one training to prepare individuals for competitive employment; 5. Provide needed job coaching (to be determined on an individual basis); 6. Conduct task analysis; 7.

Within a work environment:

Monitors and teaches work related skills and behaviors such as appropriate communication, on-task behavior, grooming, appropriate social interactions. Identifies employer or supported employee concerns and resolve potential problems without intruding on the employer/supervisor relationships. Ensure that a task is completed according to the standard established for that task by the employer. 8. Communication with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (as needed); 9. Maintain contact with employer and employee to ensure job success; 10. Coordinate with the individual served, family, employer and any other parties to eliminate barriers to successful competitive employment and continued employment; 11. Complete all documentation as required by funding agency, accreditation agency, and Triumph Services; 12. Provide program participant transportation during assessment and job development (as necessary); 13. Travel to program participant worksite and access varying workspace as necessary.

B. ANCILLLARY FUNCTIONS

Report regularly to supervisor on program participant status. Complete and submit all required reporting forms in a timely manner. Adhere to agency policies. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

C. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Subject to the training location and skill being trained. D. QUALIFICATIONS/Education 1. BA/BS required (in related field preferred) 2. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities (or similar experience is strongly preferred); 3. Valid Driver’s license; 4. Ability to perform duties in a variety of settings; 5. Computer skills, including word processing, excel, and database.
