The Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) is a peer over the age of 18 who has lived experience that they are willing to share with others to provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders, helping them to navigate recovery and achieve their goals. There are two part-time positions available for this role: 1) 2nd shift Monday-Friday and 2) Saturdays and Sundays. What you’ll be doing: Provide peer support to adults by sharing your own experiences and building trusting relationships. Offer support and guidance to adults as they receive services and support from our organization. Connect adults to community supports, natural supports, additional programs. Coordinate outreach and efforts in the community. Encourage adults to identify goals and create action plans in tandem with the adult’s treatment team to reach them. Foster hope and approach adults’ skills from a strengths-based perspective. Practice culturally responsive communication and interaction with adults and their families and/or natural supports. Act as a resource and safe person for adults to approach with questions, concerns, and accomplishments. Facilitate trainings and groups as scheduled and requested. Attend staff and agency meetings, trainings, and other events as scheduled and approved by supervisor. Complete daily notes and regular documentation as required by our organization’s guidelines. Complete other duties as assigned.
