The Arc of Litchfield County, Inc. (LARC), is seeking professional, kind, caring, creative, and energetic Job Coach to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full and happy lives. Spend your days positively enhancing the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) by helping them get and maintain employment. LARC is hiring for the position of Job Coach to guide participants in our successful vocational program in Litchfield County. Job Coaches provide hands-on assistance to individuals to help them learn the specific requirements of a job as well as appropriate interpersonal skills and rules of the workplace. Experience supporting individuals with IDD is encouraged, but not required. Valid CT driver’s license and HSD/GED required. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, eye care, generous vacation, paid holidays, and 401K plan. Starting wage $18.29/hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Have excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work independently. + Assists individuals with new tasks and provides training at the job location as needed. + Maintains and ensures the training requirements of the community employer are up to date. + Task analysis of all skills to be taught and to teach through recommended training techniques (i.e. Gentle Teaching). + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport and work effectively with individuals, employers, support staff, team members, families and guardians. + Follow through with all designed behavior management programs, activities of daily living programs, and other programs developed to increase individual abilities. + Gathers paystub database and monitors minimum wage and wage increases for accuracy. + Maintains accurate daily production/performance records for each assigned individual and reports on payroll sheets to the appropriate Finance department staff weekly at a day and time designated by them.
QUALIFICIATIONS
This position requires all new hires to go through full days of training for one full week. + Bachelor’s degree in special education, Psychology, or related field preferred. + At least 2 years’ experience in job coaching, career development, or related field with individuals with disabilities. + Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including different sites and programs as needed. + Must have a current CT driver’s license and clean driving record. + Must maintain all LARC required and state-mandated training certifications and re-certifications. + Be over the age of 21 COMPUTER
AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, Outlook, and be comfortable using tablets and smartphones along with other general office equipment. Ability to work with and understand databases is a must and the ability to learn technical skills.
