A3 NATURE OF JOB
The Employment Specialist will report to the Employment Specialist Supervisor. This position will work with individuals referred from State of Florida Department of Vocational Rehab, to help find and maintain employment. This position will ensure high performance and operating efficiency of all areas of employment with a strong commitment to optimizing the experience and satisfaction of people served by The Arc of the Bay.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops an Employment, Re-Employment, or Follow Along Plan as applicable, for designated Clients.
- Provides support and services listed on the Plan.
- Utilizes the Therap System.
- Utilizes the PERM System.
- Enters data into systems as required.
- Uses basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Email).
- Provides training on the job to clients as needed.
- Documents progress on assigned Clients’ program objectives and other necessary reports.
- Serves as a resource to Employers.
- Visits Clients at the Job Site.
- Provides updates and information to the Employment Specialist Supervisor as requested or needed.
- Competes all required training.
- Job Development.
- Conducts worksite and cultural analysis as needed.
- Maintains communication between employee, employer, agency, funding sources, family, etc.
- Participates in the Person-Centered Planning Process.
- Completes documentation as needed.
- Provides needed reports to document the progress and outcomes of each assigned Client.
- Participates in projects as directed.
- Participates in employer recruitment.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service training as requested.
- Regular reliable full-time attendance as scheduled.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Business, Nursing, Education or Social, Behavioral or Rehabilitative Science and two (2) years’ experience.
- Experience in the above-mentioned fields may be substituted on a year for year basis in the required education.
- Experience in employment placements.
- Previous experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
- Must possess a belief in worth of individuals with disabilities.
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule.
- Must be able to speak, write, and comprehend English language.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License acceptable to the Agency and the Agency Insurance Carrier, or the ability to obtain within time limits established by the State of Florida.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of and ability to use data and/or word processing equipment and related software.
- Knowledge in the use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential.
- Knowledge of the Bay County area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment and requires moderate exposure to disagreeable elements (e.g., irate customer and clients, extreme noise, heat, odors, heights and/or dust). This position requires stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, visual acuity (i.e., seeing up close, seeing far away, depth perception), kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions. This position requires frequent lifting of 10-25lbs, and may require lifting up to 25 lbs.
