Job Summary Under the general direction of the Training Department Manager of a campus, the instructor performs duties related to delivering the appropriate instructional program as set forth by Lake Sumter State College in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential. Requires strong training skills. Also, calls for flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work harmoniously with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
Prepare classroom and range for class activities.
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
Use relevant technology to support instruction.
Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
Provide appropriate feedback on work.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, policies and school regulations.
Prepare required reports on students and activities.
Manage student behavior in the classroom, on the pad and in the vehicles by enforcing rules and procedures.
Maintain daily attendance sheet.
Perform certain pastoral duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement.
Communicate necessary information regularly to students and colleagues regarding student progress and student needs.
Keep up to date with developments in subject area.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Current certifications to facilitate sessions for LSSC employees (i.e. personal preference inventories and Situational Leadership). Demonstrated knowledge of organizational development principles and practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to demonstrate a high-level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and professionalism. Understanding and commitment to the state college mission. Extensive experience developing high-performing work cultures, and developing and delivering leadership training programs. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated technology skills. Background in employee relations, labor relations, job analysis, compensation programs and performance. Considerable knowledge of CDL requirements.
Considerable knowledge of equipment.
Ability to maintain accurate records, assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports.
Computer applications related to the work.
Technique for effectively representing LSSC including making effective public presentations and dealing with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.
Exceptional driving and training skills.
The ability to be flexible, and interface professionally with all levels of internal and external customers.
Demonstrate outstanding instructional skills.
Ability to accurately maintain and organize paperwork.
Manage multiple tasks, often with competing deadlines.
Prepare clear, concise and informative reports, correspondence and other written materials.
Minimum Qualifications & Education Required:
A high school diploma or GED
Minimum of (5) years’ experience driving Class A vehicle; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as mentioned.
