Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Career Camp Counselor is responsible for leading campers in activities that will prepare them for transition to post-secondary education, training, and/or employment. Career Camp includes, but is not limited to, field trips, physical activities, daily living skills, skill achievement, health and safety topics.

Responsibilities:

Works with campers, co-workers and supervisor to develop an understanding of the unique strengths and needs of each camper. Facilitates activities provided within the approved curriculum. Arrives on time and adheres to a punctual work schedule. Responsible for the assigned group of campers each day. Safely transports campers by adhering to HPSs’ transportation policy and procedures. Completes all paperwork, and assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner. Models appropriate behavior at all times. Provides guidance and support to campers, promoting positive behavior and conflict resolution. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper progress and any concerns. Other tasks as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

Adheres to all privacy, security and confidentiality policies of the agency including HIPPA standards. Adhere to established safety procedures and practices in your working environment. Attends staff meetings, in-service education and ongoing trainings as required. Provide and maintain reliable transportation for on the job travel requirements. Support the department and agency in the implementation and accomplishment of its mission.

Qualifications:

College Degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, social services or business field and one-year employment in related field OR Four years of direct services experience working with people with a disability.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office. Possess creative problem-solving skills, time management skills and organizational skills. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Flexibility to work the hours required by the job. Ability to perform job functions independently. Ability to work as an effective team member. Valid Florida driver’s license.
