Job Summary :

The Youth Employment Specialist/Project SEARCH ensures participants within the youth transition services programs are matched with roles that suit their skills and experience. Youth Employment Specialist also maintains participant databases, sets up interviews, job develops and provides support while at the worksite and assists with Career Camps.

Responsibilities :

1. Complete informational interviews with clients. 2. Provides on-going assessment of clients’ job performance through observation, data collection, and on-going communication with all stakeholders. 3. Assists with development of natural supports on the job site. 4. Work with Participants, co-workers and supervisors to develop an understanding of the unique strengths and needs of the client. 5. Maintains contact with, and advocates for the participant, employer and family with a minimum of 2 monthly contacts. 6. Completes all paperwork, service logs, data collection and correspondence as required accurately and in a timely manner. 7. Provides job coaching/training for individuals on case load. 8. Attends IEP meetings as needed. 9. Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on their caseload. 10. Provides outreach services as necessary to clients when they appear to disengage from the service. 11. Spend 65% or more of the scheduled work hours at the designated work sites and/or in the community. 12. Promote and secure Project Search job sites as well as community-based job sites that will match the individual’s needs, abilities and interests. 13.Identify and initiate adaptations or modifications, to ensure job success. 14.When applicable, prepare individuals and employers for transition to long-term support services as required by Helping People Succeed, Inc. policy and procedure. 15.Continue active job search activities for those individuals not employed during the Project SEARCH year. 16.Participate on the Project SEARCH Advisory Committee. 17.Provide back-up support for other employment consultants as needed. 18. Other tasks as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Adheres to all privacy, security and confidentiality policies of the agency including HIPPA standards. 2. Adhere to established safety procedures and practices in your working environment. 3. Attends staff meetings, in-service education and ongoing trainings as required. 4. Provide and maintain reliable transportation for on‑the‑job travel requirements. 5. Support the department and agency in the implementation and accomplishment of its mission.

Equipment Used :

1. Equipment used can vary widely depending upon the employment setting. Helping People Succeed, Inc. equipment may include desktop computers, lap tops and general office equipment. 2. Personal vehicle.

Qualifications:

1. College Degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, social services or business field and one-year employment in related field OR 2. Four years of direct services experience working with people with a disability.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office. Possess creative problem-solving skills, time management skills and organizational skills. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Flexibility to work the hours required by the job. Ability to perform job functions independently. Ability to work as an effective team member. Experience working with culturally diverse communities/families, with demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate. Valid Florida driver’s license.
