$48.6K – $56.6K a year 10 hours ago Qualifications Working with people with disabilities Writing skills Academic advising Mid-level Master’s degree Bachelor’s degree 2 years Communication skills Full Job Description The Coordinator of Accessibility Services & Student Resources ensures equal access to educational opportunities for students with disabilities by coordinating and implementing accommodations and support services in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other relevant laws and institutional policies. This role collaborates closely with students, faculty, and staff to foster an inclusive campus environment.
Essential Functions:
Ensures compliance with the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities. Leads programming efforts on campus to increase awareness of disabilities among students and staff to cultivate a campus climate of inclusion. Reviews and evaluates medical, psychological, neuropsychological, and other related documentation of disability and determines reasonable and appropriate accommodations for all students with disabilities. Maintains detailed and confidential files on persons with self-identified disabilities; documents ongoing activities and updates records as situations change. Assists faculty with implementation of and understanding of accommodations for each student and each course, in compliance with individual plans and ADA regulations. Supports the administration of assistive technologies and testing accommodations. Stays current on disability law, trends in higher education, and universal design principles. Serves as the point of contact for students’ needs and support. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, and presentation skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external providers. Skilled in assessing complex situations and determining reasonable accommodation or solutions. Ability to educate and train faculty/staff on disability-related topics and advocate for inclusive practices across campus. Flexibility in responding to changing needs, student issues, and institutional priorities. Capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences with sensitivity and respect. General awareness of how various disabilities (learning, physical, sensory, psychological, chronic health) may impact academic performance and campus life. Knowledge of appropriate and reasonable accommodations in academic, housing, and co-curricular settings. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Higher Education, Counseling, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of work experience, particularly in disability services or academic advising, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
