Job Description

Employment Specialist 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 18901 SW 106th Avenue, Cutler Bay, FL 33157 Youth Co-Op, Inc., a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the social and economic conditions of youth, adults, families, refugees and immigrants in South Florida, is seeking an Employment Specialist for its Workforce Development Program in Perrine.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Employment Specialist is responsible for developing relations with various employers to identify job opportunities for program participants and coordinate employment activities at the Career Center. The Employment Specialist will work closely with employers to develop On the Job Training (OJT) and customized training in demand driven occupations. The successful candidate will work closely with program counselors to identify and develop employment opportunities for program clients, track placements and implement initiatives to increase placements, and collaborate closely with job placement specialist to ensure achievement of program goals. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in business management, social work or a related field required. Up to two years of experience in a related field may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Minimum 2 years experience in customer service required. Tier I certification required within 90 days of hire. Demonstrated understanding of federal requirements for documenting program services and outcomes, and the ability to assist individuals and organizations with implementing effective documentation practices preferred. Strong communication skills in English required and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, is required. Foreign language ability (Spanish and French Creole) is highly desirable.
