Position Title Coordinator, International Student Success Job Type Staff FT/PT Full-Time Employee Class Description P1-Staff exempt General Position Description Provides specialized student services for international students. Responsible for immigration, academic, and personal advising, new student immigration programming and facilitation, promotion of social and cultural activities to students, and helping to create opportunities for student engagement within the college and the community. Works as part of a team to support international students and supervises international enrollment support staff.

Provides students with necessary pre-arrival information, facilitates new student orientations, and coordinates new student orientation programming. Description of Job Function 2. Assists students with course selection, registration, drop and add, graduation, transfer procedures, and scholarship information. Description of Job Function 3. Advises international students in F-1 and J-1 status on immigration regulations. Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO). Description of Job Function 4. Issues I-20s (Certificate of Eligibility for Non-immigrant F-1 Student Status) and DS-2019s (Certificate of Eligibility for J-1 Exchange Visitor Status) for students. Description of Job Function 5. Processes and maintains student records in SEVIS, institutional databases, and student files. Description of Job Function 6. Manages implementation, maintenance, and procedures for accurate and timely reporting to comply with immigration regulations and SEVIS reporting requirements. Description of Job Function 7. Provides academic advising as it relates to educational programs, including managing students on academic probation. Serves as liaison between the students and faculty and assists students having academic difficulty in utilizing all available resources. Description of Job Function 8. Advises students on personal concerns. Makes appropriate referrals and contacts, and assists students when emergencies arise. Description of Job Function 9. Provides regular contact with students through email and other social networking media. Manages student appointments. Description of Job Function 10. Promotes social and cultural events designed to integrate students into the college community and supports the college’s internationalization efforts to provide intercultural opportunities for the college’s domestic students. Liaises with various college departments and government agencies, including but not limited to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Department of State. Preferred Licenses/Certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of SEVIS and F-1 visa student regulations as outlined in 8 C.F.R. § 21 2(f). Knowledge of the principles of student advising and student development theory. Skill in the use of personal computers and general office software. Ability to interpret J-1 visa student regulations as outlined in 22 C.F.R. § 6 2 Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to research related information and regulations, prepare reports and documents, and attend to details with a high level of accuracy. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to think critically, set priorities, and make sound and prudent decisions. Ability to supervise and direct the work of a support staff. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure, amidst challenging interpersonal interactions.
