Job Description

Transitions Technician (Part Time) 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars

West Palm Beach, FL SCOPE:

Train participants to perform a variety of daily living and pre-vocational skills, and document the progress of participants; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by presenting a positive image to the community and maximizing the opportunity for persons with disabilities and other barriers to become more independent, working within the limits of prescribed routines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Train and oversee participants in a wide variety of activities designed to enhance their ability to perform daily living and pre-vocational skills, working from a curriculum and resource materials. Teach using activities which include cooking, outings, crafts, money management, menu planning, production work, social skills and music. Work from resource materials and curriculum provided by management. 2. Transport program participants to and from program and outings. Accompany groups of participants on outings to teach skills used outside the home environment. 3. Maintain ratio and provide supervision to participants to ensure their safety and well-being while at ADT facility and on community outings. 4. Provide periodic progress and activity charts for each participant making daily assessments based on specific participant goals. Develop a written summary of ratings and document activities and progress to participant case files as required. 5. Plan activities and themes independently or with others and submit recommended activity projects for authorization. Request materials or services required to enable the activity. 6. Perform any range of departmental administrative assignments or special projects as requested.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

1. Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community. 2. Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. 3. Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition. 4. Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

1. High School diploma or GED preferred 2. One (1) year working directly with individuals with disabilities or relevant work experience required 3. Must be able to take directions and work with small groups 4. Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record for insurability under company insurance and ability to travel to outlying locations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. General office environment 2. Frequent travel; community outings with participants 3. Regular pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping, standing and bending 4. Ability to lift and carry 20 lbs. minimum

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Computer and peripherals, word processing, spreadsheets and office software programs, and standard office equipment.
