Career Services Advisor
Clearwater (CLW) UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. Position:

The Career Services Advisor empowers students and graduates to confidently launch their healthcare careers. This role will foster meaningful connections with employer partners, provide impactful career coaching, and guide students through externship experiences and job placements. This position will serve as champion for student success, and will deliver timely career development support, solve placement challenges, and ensure all documentation meets organizational and accreditation standards. What you’ll do:

Prepare Externship Students:

Equip students with necessary skills and tools for a successful externship, including paperwork completion and site communication.

Conduct Externship Workshops:

Provide workshops covering externship overview and expectations. Ensure students document their hours and maintain appropriate pacing.

Source Externship Opportunities:

Assist in finding externship sites through employer outreach.

Maintain Accurate Documentation:

Keep up-to-date, accurate data and documentation in required systems. Inform the education team about externship hours, progress, and issues.

Process Externship Files:

Collect all required documentation and attendance records to ensure students complete necessary hours.
Provide Career Guidance to

Graduates:

Provide support to graduates to address employment issues and overcome barriers.

Conduct Career Readiness Coaching:

Offer instruction on professional etiquette, communication skills, resume development, job search, application guidance, interviewing, and dress for success.

Source Employment Opportunities:

Identify job opportunities through various outreach methods and maintain relationships with employers.

Facilitate Graduate Interviews:

Prepare and support graduates in interviews with employers, including those with national Corporate Alliance partnerships.

Organize Career Fairs:

Assist in planning and implementing career fairs for students and graduates, both virtually and on campus.

Maintain Student Records:

Ensure timely and accurate documentation of student interactions, placement activities, and job orders.

Ethical and Compliant Services:

Act with integrity to maintain ethical and compliant services while working towards graduate success.
Collaborate with

Online Team:

Support multi-campus processes and collaborate with the online team
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to effectively interact with students, graduates, employers, and team members.
Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with employer partners, students, and graduates.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
Ability to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English.
Ability to contribute to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Computer literacy/basic computer skills to effectively navigate and utilize the technology required for the role.

Preferred Requirements:

Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in employment staffing, externship, career services, or sales experience in the corporate sector.
Experience providing career readiness instruction, including resume development, job search strategies, interview preparation, and professional etiquette.

Problem-Solving Skills:

Proficiency in identifying and addressing employment issues and barriers to ensure successful graduate placements.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Compliance:

Demonstrate knowledge of and carefully follow all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position is an onsite position at UMA’s ground campus in Clearwater, Florida. May include a flexible remote schedule for online/virtual instructional opportunity. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Anticipated starting salary is based on experience and qualifications. Compensation Range $22 – $27 USD
