To learn more about Georgia Southern’s Vision, Mission and Values please click here: https://president.georgiasouthern.edu/performance-excellence/mission-values/ Location Statesboro Campus•Statesboro, GA Department Information Allen E Paulson College of Engineering and Computing Job Summary The Student Assistant will support the Allen E Paulson College of Engineering and Computing as a Camp Counselor on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer 2025. The Camp Counselor will assist with the Gulfstream Summer Experience at the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing, supporting high school students throughout their two-week long engineering camp. Starting in Summer 2025, the counselor will help escort students around the campus, assist with preparing and facilitating activities, and provide general support to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for all participants. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period. Responsibilities
Lead small groups of students around the campus to various activities and events.
Ensure students’ safety and well-being while attending sessions and activities.
Help set up materials, equipment, and spaces for hands-on engineering activities and demonstrations.
Ensure all necessary supplies are available and organized before each session.
Assist instructors and staff in delivering interactive engineering challenges and projects.
Provide encouragement and guidance to students as they participate in various engineering tasks.
Offer advice, encouragement, and support to students, fostering an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Model professional behavior, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Ensure all students are actively participating and engaged in camp activities.
Help students build confidence in their engineering skills and encourage collaboration.
Support the planning and execution of daily schedules, ensuring smooth transitions between activities.
Provide assistance with check-in/check-out processes and any administrative duties as needed.
Monitor students’ safety during activities, both indoors and outdoors.
Be prepared to respond to any emergency situations and follow safety protocols.
Communicate regularly with camp coordinators and instructors regarding student progress, challenges, and overall experience.
Offer suggestions for improving camp activities based on student feedback.
Create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere that encourages teamwork and fun.
Help resolve conflicts or concerns between students, ensuring a harmonious and respectful environment.
Help clean up after activities, ensuring all materials are stored properly for the next day.
Support the final breakdown of camp setups at the end of the week.
Other duties as assigned. Shift Specifics Up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability

Shifts Available:

Monday•Friday 9AM•3PM with a one hour break.
Position will last for about 3 weeks.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Currently pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree at the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing.
