POSITION SUMMARY

The Career Services Program Manager will lead Gateway Center’s Career Resource Center (CRC), a vital program that connects individuals experiencing homelessness with employment, career coaching, and workforce development opportunities. This role is responsible for building sustainable career pathways, bridging the digital divide, and developing strategic partnerships with employers, training providers, and educational institutions to support job placement and long-term economic stability for Gateway Center guests. The Career Services Program Manager will also be responsible for designing and implementing evidence-based workforce development programs that empower guests to identify career interests, build skills, and secure stable employment. This includes soft skills training, vocational education, digital literacy initiatives, and job readiness programs. The individual in this role must be highly collaborative, working across Gateway Center programs and external organizations to ensure holistic, person-centered career support. The ideal candidate is passionate about workforce development, has a strong network of employer and community partnerships, and understands the barriers to employment that individuals experiencing homelessness often face. Career Resource Center Leadership & Program Development Oversee Career Resource Center operations, ensuring that employment services align with Gateway Center’s mission and guests’ needs. Design and implement job readiness training, including resume building, interview preparation, financial literacy, and workplace etiquette. Develop strategies to bridge the digital divide by expanding access to technology, digital literacy training, and online job search tools. Research and implement workforce best practices to improve employment outcomes and career advancement opportunities. Create a comprehensive data-driven approach to measure program effectiveness and impact, adjusting strategies as needed Community Partnerships & Employer Engagement Establish and maintain relationships with employers, staffing agencies, workforce boards, and job training programs to create sustainable employment pipelines for guests Partner with technical colleges, apprenticeship programs, and vocational training providers to expand career pathways for guests. Develop relationships with business leaders and HR professionals to identify job openings and advocate for hiring individuals with barriers to employment. Collaborate with government agencies and nonprofit organizations to enhance service offerings and ensure guests receive wraparound support. Act as a liaison between Gateway Center and corporate partners, ensuring mutual engagement in workforce development efforts. Guest Services & Career Coaching Provide one-on-one and group career coaching, helping guests set career goals, develop job search strategies, and access job placement opportunities. Facilitate workshops and training sessions to prepare guests for the workforce, focusing on both hard and soft skills development. Support guests in accessing workforce certifications and industry-recognized credentials that align with career goals. Connect individuals to transportation, childcare, and other supportive services that remove employment barriers Program Administration & Grant Support Assist the Leadership Team in assessing workforce development needs and identifying grant opportunities. Monitor program outcomes, prepare monthly reports, and ensure compliance with funding and grant requirements. Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and impact of employment services.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Workforce Development, Human Resources, Business Administration, Education, Counseling, or a related field. 4-5 years of experience in career services, workforce development, staffing, or employment coaching, preferably in a nonprofit or social services setting. Experience developing partnerships with employers, training providers, and workforce organizations. Knowledge of HR practices, job placement strategies, and career coaching principles. Strong proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (Excel, workforce tracking software, and CRM platforms). Familiarity with barriers to employment for individuals experiencing homelessness and the importance of trauma-informed career coaching. Strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-sector partners and diverse populations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
