Career and Technical Education Director Responsibilities:

Assist the culinary instructors in teaching the Massachusetts Culinary Frameworks, adapting to different learning styles and student backgrounds. Support the development of occupational skills and knowledge to help students become competent in the culinary field. Aid in the preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities within the allotted class time. Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and discipline. Demonstrate the use of occupational materials, equipment, and processes using standard models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aides. Guide students in selecting and performing appropriate activities to attain required competencies. Provide individual and group assistance tailored to the needs of the students and the requirements of the activities being performed. Mentor students on the importance of postsecondary education, training, and a strong work ethic. Collaborate with the CTE Director and Co-op coordinator to ensure students have work-based experiences, including co-ops. Instruct students on appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of instruments and equipment. Assist in controlling the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse. Help establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment. Communicate with employers, parents, and school counselors regarding individual student progress. Assist in evaluating student performance, knowledge, and skills in the course, and prepare progress reports.

Operational Support:

Assist in the daily operation of the student-run restaurant, ensuring smooth workflow and quality service. Make supply runs as needed to maintain adequate inventory for classroom and restaurant needs. Support the planning and execution of special events, collaborating with culinary instructors and other staff.

Professional Development:

This position could be a stepping stone towards becoming a licensed Chapter 74 Culinary Instructor for individuals with industry experience. We will assist in working towards licensure. Provides an opportunity to transition from the industry to a teaching role, with potential career growth in education.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Relevant experience in the culinary arts field, preferably in an educational or instructional setting. Current certification in food sanitation preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations. Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills.
