6702 Job Description The Adult Community Crisis Stabilization (A-CCS) is an 8-bed, staff-secure, safe, and structured crisis stabilization and treatment services that serves as a medically necessary, less restrictive, and voluntary alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The Adult Peer Specialist will serve on a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. This position will work closely with the Clinical Coordinator, Mental Health Worker, Nurses and Psychiatric Prescriber. This position will report to the Vice President of Crisis and Substance Use Services.

JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provides individual and group peer support, drawing on common experiences
  • Validates clients’ experiences and provides guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery
  • Assist the team in providing education and information about recovery, wellness, crisis self-management, and information about accessing wellness and recovery services in the community
  • Assist in the development and execution of the treatment plan and aftercare plan
  • Provide education, support, and consultation to families/friends/guardians and other supports, as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention under the supervision of clinical staff Required Skills Required Experience
    Must successfully complete Peer Specialist Certification within 6 months of hire
    Has experience with recovery from psychiatric disabilities
    Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residences; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services
    Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential
